A redo double lung transplant - the replacement of both lungs in a patient who has already undergone a previous lung transplant - is among the most complex procedures in thoracic medicine, with significantly higher technical and immunological demands than a primary transplant.
Dr. Manjunath M N presented India's first successful redo double lung transplant at the European Society for Organ Transplantation Congress (ESOT 2025), London - a first-in-India milestone drawing on the wider KIMS thoracic transplant programme.

When my father was put on the lung transplant waitlist, we were terrified - everything felt uncertain. Dr. Manjunath M N sat with us for nearly an hour explaining every step, every risk, every realistic outcome. He never rushed us. Two years post-transplant, my father walks every morning.
I had been struggling with progressive ILD for years and was passed from one specialist to another. Dr. Manjunath M N was the first physician who actually evaluated me for transplant and explained the process clearly. The level of follow-up after surgery has been beyond what I expected.
We travelled from a different state for evaluation. Dr. Manjunath M N and the team at KIMS handled coordination, transport, and admission seamlessly. What stood out most was that he answered our questions himself - not through assistants. That gave us confidence at the most difficult time.
